About
Ryan Plantin started his Graphic Design Career in 1978, when he and his grandmother worked on a project called “Ryan’s Zoo.” It was a craft project that emulated a Little Golden Book his father had years before. Small beginnings. Years later, as a Freshman at La Sierra University, he needed a major to go with his pre-med courses. Med students generally took Biology or Chemistry, Ryan took Art as his de facto major. An art student with a pre-med twist. His sophomore year, the focus was on Graphic Design and was on his way to fame and fortune.
Now a Graphic Design major, completely forgoing the medical profession, Ryan interned with Scott Mires at MiresBall in San Diego. Learning the finer points of branding and logo design. Later that year, he graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design. His first job was with the City of Glendale in the Graphics Department, learning the ins and outs of politics as well as the foundation of Graphic Design. Ryan then moved on to Herlbalife, as a Production Artist and Graphic Designer, designing various collateral for the multitude of projects that the multi-level marketing company required.
Next stop was MC Brand studios, concepting and producing award winning creative pieces, from branding, marketing collateral, annual reports, and websites. Over those eight years, he was learning his craft and gathering accolades. Later Ryan headed over to Brierley + Partners, now an Art Director, he stared working on Loyalty programs for Bloomingdale’s, Hilton, Sony, Hertz and Bridgestone, to name a few. He created these projects from concept to completion, for print and digital.
Ten years later, Ryan aided Tag in a new endeavor to assist Amgen with it’s global initiatives. Diving fully into the digital space, he created emails and web banners, even writing and implementing the company’s best practices for designing web banners. All was going pretty good till the Vid... Covid. Ryan retired in seclusion and after so many years away from the fine arts, took up painting again.
However, the world changed, and so did Ryan. Coming out of retirement, he started Freelancing with KERN. Quickly moving into print again for DIRECTV. After months of auditioning, he took a full-time role as Art Director.
